No card up front, no clock running, and a guarantee that follows you every month you’re a paying customer — not just the first one.
01
First 5 inspections — free
No credit card, no trial clock. Every software feature unlocked, 5 team seats, 50 texts and 50 emails included to run them like real jobs. Take a week or a year.
02
Subscribe when you’re ready
Nothing is ever charged automatically. When the free inspections run out, everything you created stays fully usable — creating new ones is what waits for you.
03
Every month is guaranteed
Unhappy in any month? Email us and we refund that month’s subscription fee, no questions asked — you drop back to the free tier the same day, data intact. Prefer to keep the month you paid for? Cancel instead and ride it out.
Feature comparison
Hosted and self-hosted are the same software — every feature works either way; the differences are about convenience, not what you can do. When a row says “your own account,” you set up that service (we walk you through it) and pay it directly — there’s never an extra software fee from us.
Yes. Every feature in the comparison table above is included in the per-seat price. We don't have a "Pro" or "Enterprise" tier that unlocks reports, templates, or AI features. The only variable is the number of active inspector seats on your account.
Are text messaging and email included in the seat price?+
Yes — your free tier includes 50 platform texts and 50 platform emails to run your first 5 free inspections, sent from a managed toll-free number and our built-in email service (we handle the carrier verification for you). Once you're on a paid subscription, platform texts and emails are included and not limited by the free-tier quota. Need more volume, or want to send from your own name? Two advanced options — 10DLC local-number texting and sending email from your own domain — require registration in your business’s name, so they connect through your own Twilio, Telnyx, or email provider account (Resend, SendGrid, Postmark, Mailgun) instead of the shared platform quota. There’s no extra software fee for either, usage on your own account is uncapped, and you pay the provider directly.
What counts as an "active inspector"?+
A seat is counted when an inspector account is active in your company during a billing period. If someone is deactivated mid-month, you're not charged for them at the next billing cycle. You're billed only for who is actively using the platform.
Can I switch from hosted to self-hosted?+
Yes, anytime. Export your data from the dashboard — inspections, templates, client records, and inspection history all export in standard formats. Deploy your own OpenInspection instance and import everything. Your workflow continues without interruption.
What happens after my 5 free inspections?+
Nothing disappears. Every inspection you've already created keeps working — you can still edit, publish, deliver, and export it. What pauses is creating new inspections, adding team members past your 5 free seats, and platform texts or emails past the 50 free platform texts and emails included with your free inspections. There's no time pressure and nothing is ever deleted — subscribe whenever you're ready to keep creating. Self-hosting stays free forever if you'd rather not subscribe at all.
What if I'm unhappy after I subscribe?+
You get an any-month money-back guarantee: email us in any month you're unhappy and we refund that month's subscription fee, no questions asked — your subscription ends immediately and you land on the free tier with your data intact. Prefer to keep the month you already paid for instead? Cancel: you keep access through the end of the paid period with no refund, then drop to the free tier. Either way, nothing is deleted.
What happens if my subscription lapses?+
If a card payment fails, your subscription enters a grace period while we retry the charge — nothing changes and nothing is deleted while that's in progress. If the subscription is ultimately canceled, you land on the free tier: everything you've already created stays intact, and any unused free-inspection allowance is still yours.
Why is the open-source version free?+
Because the code is already public — there's no reason to charge you for something you could build yourself. The hosted service charges for the convenience, reliability, and support. Not for access to the software itself. Why we open-sourced it
What does AGPL v3 mean for me as an inspector?+
It means you can self-host it, modify it, and share modifications — as long as you keep those modifications open source too. For most inspectors running their own business, it has no practical restrictions. You can deploy it, use it commercially, and keep your inspection data private. The license only applies if you distribute a modified version to others.
What if Inspector Hub raises prices or shuts down?+
The AGPL v3 license means you always have the right to take the open-source code and run your own instance. If we ever raised prices to an unreasonable level, you could self-host for free — using the exact same code. If we shut down, the code remains on GitHub and the community can continue it independently. We've structurally limited our own leverage over you.
We can't lock you in. Here's the proof.
The software source code is public on GitHub. The AGPL v3 license legally prevents us from ever closing the source or blocking self-hosting. If we raise prices or change terms you don't like, you can always fork the project and host your own version.
First 5 inspections free on the hosted version — no card, no clock. Or deploy yourself for free right now. Your data exports anytime — on day one or day one thousand.
